Intracranial aspergillosis involving the internal auditory canal and inner ear in an immunocompetent patient.
We report the MR imaging findings in a case of intracranial aspergillosis involving the internal auditory canal (IAC) and inner ear in an immunocompetent patient. The presence of rim enhancement of the vestibulocochlear nerve, abnormal signal intensity involving the labyrinth, and adjacent meningeal enhancement might help clinicians to make a correct diagnosis in patients with a mass in the IAC...
متن کاملIntracranial aspergillosis mimicking a middle cranial fossa tumor involving the cavernous sinus in an immunocompetent patient: Case report and literature review
Intracranial aspergillosis is rare in immunocompetent patients. Extension to the cranial base via the sphenoid sinus is exceptional. Authors report a case of middle cranial fossa aspergillosis involving the cavernous sinus and mimicking an extra-axial tumor in an immunocompetent 65 year-old male. The patient had been suffering from left trigeminal neuralgia and a horizontal diplopia since 4 mon...
متن کاملScrotal Aspergillosis Associated with Fournier’s Gangrene in a Patient with Cirrhosis
Pulmonary aspergillosis is a well known entity occurring in immunocompetent persons. Cutaneous aspergillosis, on the other hand, has been described in cases of suppressed immunity. Recently, invasive aspergillosis has been reported in patients with subtle immune dysfunction such as those with critical illness and advanced cirrhosis. We report a case of scrotal aspergillosis in association with ...
متن کاملCentral Nervous System Aspergilloma in an Immunocompetent Patient: A Case Report
Intracranial aspergilloma is extremely rare. The diagnosis and treatment of invasive CNS aspergillosis is very difficult. Early diagnosis is important for a successful treatment. Here, we report a case of intracranial aspergilloma in an 11-year-old boy in 2013. Good outcome was achieved by treatment with a combination of neurosurgical resection and antifungal administration, which we suggest is...
متن کاملA single aspergillus fumigatus intracranial abscess in an immunocompetent patient with parietal lobe tumorectomy
Aspergillosis of the central nervous system is a rare fungal infection that is mainly reported in patients with immune deficiency, such as AIDS patients and organ transplant patients treated with immunosuppressive agents, and is uncommon among patients with intact immune function. We report here a rare case of intracranial aspergillosis in a patient who had previously undergone a parietal lobe ...
